Opening week at Isaac’s

We’ve been open a week already and it feels great to be back. We relaunched the Isaac At dining experience last Friday, revealing our new larger open kitchen, hand built table-by-the-pass, exciting new set and tasting menus, as well as Alex’s carefully crafted Sussex Flight drinks tasting menus – both alcoholic and fresh juices.

So, what can you expect when you join us? The best quality, locally sourced ingredients, for one. Isaac is really passionate about the dishes he creates and works hard to source the best produce. Our new tasting menu has gone down really well, with the star of the show being Isaac’s celebration of butternut squash.

Our opening week starter of ‘Roasted Butternut Squash, Yeast Extract, Seeds and Rosemary Oil’ certainly got a lot of attention. Alex launched his Sussex Flight menus, pairing Tomato, Red Pepper and Celery juice with the dish, or for wine fans it went well with Sedlescombe 2014 First Release Biodynamic White Wine, made from grapes including Rivaner and Bacchus, which has been growing in the same vineyard since 1979. A great wine to bear in mind as a perfect pairing, when you’re cooking a squash dish at home yourself.

Another popular juice on the menu is our Beetroot, Pear and Apple, which Alex paired with the main chicken dish, adding a dash of Brighton Gin for guests wanting a bit of a kick. Staying local, all the ingredients in the juices are sourced in Sussex, with the apples from Isaac’s mum’s garden.
